Dr. Lachlan Kent: Pioneering the Science of Mental Gravity

Dr. Lachlan Kent is a researcher, social innovator, and the creator of Mental Gravity, a practical mental fitness app built on emerging research into the relationship between gravity, the body, and emotional experience. Lachlan’s work turns a provocative question, "what if gravity shapes more of our emotional life than we think?", into a tool that helps people find their footing and navigate the pressures of everyday life.

With over a decade of experience in mental health promotion and prevention at organisations like Beyond Blue and Prevention United, Lachlan has a deep commitment to systemic change. He believes that the most humane path to a healthy society is through mental fitness and emotional literacy, giving people a non-stigmatising language for when they feel "off balance" or "weighed down".

To ensure his work remains scientifically grounded, Lachlan co-founded the translational model of Biogravitational Medicine with Professor Brennan Spiegel of Cedars-Sinai. Together, they explore how gravitational principles shape the human mind and body, providing a distinctive framework for resilience and steadiness.

Lachlan’s mission is to help people stay grounded and in motion, especially children and young people who must learn to manage their focus in a demanding world. He is currently distilling his research into a definitive book on Mental Gravity while developing the app to help people take the world off their shoulders.

"Gravity doesn’t just keep our feet on the ground, it holds our minds together. The real challenge isn’t escaping heaviness, it’s learning to carry it well."
